Rie Morita (森田理恵 Morita Rie) and Saki Shindou (咲進藤 Shindou Saki) are minor characters featured prominently in the Bible Black: Origins anime prequel.

They are also briefly mentioned in the Bible Black game. Here, Rie is identified as Sanae. She is also seen in flashbacks in the first and third episodes of the first anime series, albeit with a different visual appearance in the original version (see Trivia).

The girls are friends of Hiroko Takashiro and together form a witchcraft club at their school. They occasionally play games of tarot together and imitate black magic rituals they find in books.[1]

Appearance

Rie wears her green hair in two long pigtails decorated with two small red pearl-like accessories on each. Saki has somewhat boyish short brown hair.

In their regular clothes with Takashiro.

Interestingly enough, Rie and Saki's eye color almost mirror their hair: Rie has copper, almost brown irises; Saki's eyes match Rie's green hair.

Like other Academy students, Rie and Saki dress in their school uniform while at school. In their free time, Rie wears a sleeveless beige vest over a pink shirt and a small red necktie. She also wears a long blue skirt and blue socks.

Saki dresses somewhat formal in her free time, with a plain white long sleeve shirt, brown skirt with belt and black pantyhose. She accessories her outfit with a purple collar necklace.

While engaging in their rituals, Rie and Saki both wear black robes.

History

Saki ridicules Kozono for scolding them and their ideas about magic.

When Rie and Saki are playing tarot in class one day with their friend Hiroko Takashiro, the cards predict that a great change is upon you. Something will change your life completely. Saki speculates that this means she might find a boyfriend. Rie says she will ask one her school mates out on a date.

Student council president Nami Kozono then walks into the room. She is curious about what they are doing, but ultimately calls their ideas about magic ridiculous. Saki calls her a bitch for scolding them and sticks her tongue out at the girl.

Rie presents the book to her friends.

Sometime later, Rie visits an antiques store and finds a mysterious grimoire in a pile of sale books. She shows the old book to the girls the next day in class. Takashiro is fascinated by the handwritten tome.

Student council member Junko Mochida interrupts and informs the girls that their bid for an official witchcraft club has been denied. She adds that the council would never allow a silly club like theirs and walks off. Saki angrily demands an explanation, but Rie calms her down.

Setting up their vengeance on Mochida by burying a wrapped stone.

Using the book of magic

In an apartment at night, the girls spend over three hours translating a few pages of the magic book when Saki starts getting fed up, complaining about its complexity. Takashiro finds a simple spell that will make a woman dance naked and Saki suggests they cast it on councilor Mochida. Rie wonders what the last line people shall not envy but pity her means, but Saki insists they do not worry about it and just do it. Takashiro enchants a wrapped stone prop and Rie and Saki bury it, presumably at Mochida's house.

Shocked at seeing Mochida strip naked from their perverted magic.

The next day during school assembly in the gymnasium, Mochida indeed loses control and masturbates in front of all the students. Rie, Saki and Takashiro are shocked when they see the spell at work.

Afterwards, Saki spitefully threatens to do the same to Nami Kozono, which confuses the council president. Takashiro later warns the girls not to tell anybody about the spell they cast, but Rie says she is not sure if it was really their magic that caused Mochida's behavior.

Helping build their club's empire by selling love charms.

Their doubts are taken away when they successfully help the unpopular student Hiratani make Kozono fall in love with him by magic. After that, they sell these love spells to numerous people for hefty sums of money. Their witchcraft club gains significant power around the school and expands to several more members.

Skeptical about Kozono's involvement.

They eventually help Kozono break free of her love spell in return for use of the school basement for their club, now called Rose Cross. Rie calls the room a perfect place for it.

When Kozono wants to join the club, Rie and Saki voice their concern and say they do not need any more members. They also fear the girl might still hold a grudge against them for putting the love spell on her. Takashiro assures them that Kozono does not have the magic book and that they are therefore still in control.

Summoning rituals and death

As they prepare a ritual to summon the Devil himself on Walpurgis Night, Rie and Saki meet with Kozono and their club to explain that they will try to get the Devil on their side and make him use his power for them.

Soon after, the girls attempt a practice ritual by sacrificing a puppy dog. The summoned demon violently rapes Takashiro. Shocked, Rie and Saki stand by helplessly as the evil monster assaults their friend. When she is finally released they rush to help her.

Turning on their former leader Takashiro at Kozono's command.

With Takashiro in the hospital, Kozono assumes leadership of the club and plans to go ahead with the summoning ritual. Rie and Saki are concerned, but Kozono tells them Takashiro was not ready for it and that she herself will succeed.

On the night of the ritual, Takashiro bursts into the basement and tries to warn them against using magic again, saying that they all saw what the power of darkness is capable of. But Rie and Saki follow Kozono's command and tie their former leader up and take her out of the room. They apologize and tell her that it is only until the ritual is over.

Rie moments before being murdered.

When the ritual fails, however, Kozono violently attacks the club girls with the ritual sword, beheading one of the members. The others scream as blood sprays across the room. Saki is brutally murdered next, while Rie scrolls through the magic book to find a way to stop Kozono. However, she too is killed and her blood splatters the inside of the book, leaving a permanent stain.

Takashiro eventually frees herself and makes her way back to the basement, discovering the murdered corpses of her friends.

Personality and traits

Sharing a laugh with Takashiro when laying their tarot cards.

Compared to Saki, Rie is a bit more hesitant and reserved about their magical exploits. Saki has a quick temper and loses her patience more easily. She quickly calls out Nami Kozono and Junko Mochida after they disrespect their magic club, and is also eager to take revenge on Mochida. Later she threatens to put a spell on Kozono as well. Rie often tries to calm her friend down.

Saki taunts Kozono about Mochida's incident while Rie protests.

Although they are loyal to their leader Takashiro at first and shocked when she is raped by a demon, they also seem to accept Kozono's new leadership of the magic club without much hesitation. Even when Takashiro tries to stop them from proceeding with the summoning ritual, they tie and gag their former leader by Kozono's command. Their loyalty seems to take a backseat to their lust for power.

Sexuality

Surprisingly, Rie and Saki are not seen having sex at all, but they are likely heterosexual as they allude to asking two of their male classmates out on a date while playing tarot.
